Hugging this character: Yes, but she'll probably be stiff as a board and confused. She hasn't really been hugged much.

Flirting with this character: No. Unless you're in her age group (but even then she probably won't get it).
Fighting with this character: Sure. She may be a child but she can defend herself.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Yes, go right ahead. But please talk it through with me first if you're planning on more serious injuries.
Killing this character: Please ask first
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Yes, but please ask before doing it.

Warnings: Never play tag with her!

Other stuff: She can tell if you have killed people, so if your character have and you're okay with her knowing please let me know here!

In Character Information

character name: Eve
Fandom: Black Cat (manga)
Timeline: From chapter 8. (After she's stabbed Sven but before she knows he's alive.)
character's age: 11-13

powers, skills, pets and equipment:

Eve's body contains nanomachines that she can manipulate via thought waves. Using the nanomachines to reorganize her body on an atomic level, she is able to change her shape and form at will. At the moment she can only turn one of her arms into a large blade but with time, experience, and imagination she will be able to do much, much more.

In later canon she has been shown to be able to turn her arms into blades, hammers, and shields, her hair into large fists, hammers, and blades, her entire body into steel as well as creating wings (from which she can fire feather bullets), and transforming into a mermaid.

The transformations however take a rather large strain on her physically and mentally, especially those that involve her entire body.

She can also move in a way an ordinary human can't, run fast, jump high and so on as well as take a lot of damage. (This goes for many characters in her canon though.) The nanomachines also accelerate her healing.

She can smell blood on Train's hands, he's a former assassin, recognizing him as someone like her and she is shown in one place to have prophetic dreams/intuition.

She is very intelligent and has a photographic memory.

She can cook but while what she makes may taste good it will look anything but.

canon history:

Eve was cloned from professor Tearju Lunatique, the leading researcher in nanotechnology. She was created using this technology and therefore has the ability to transform parts of her body.

She's been raised by weapons dealer Torneo Rudman to be the perfect bio-weapon and killing machine, mindlessly obeying the orders of her "master". The killings are usually "disguised" as a game of tag, with Eve as the demon (the person playing "it" are in Japan referred to as "oni", meaning demon or monster).

Sweepers (bounty hunters) Sven Vollfied, a former policeman, and Train Heartnet, a former assassin, are hired by the thief Rinslet Walker to capture Rudman, who has a substation bounty on his head. Her objective is to steal the nanotechnology research for some government (but ends up destroying it instead) and the sweepers will act as a good distraction to let her work in peace.

During his reconnaissance on Torneo's home Train comes into contact with Eve for the first time, stopping her from killing one of Torneo's underlings, a not unusual punishment for failing a mission. Since this means exposing himself Torneo orders Eve to play a game with him. Train quickly escapes using smoke-bombs and pretends to flee the building, while really hiding inside. Eve, who falls for this distraction, follows to where he is thought to have gone, outside, but quickly loses his scent and becomes lost.

Which is when she meets Sven who, being a gentleman, takes care of her when he realizes she is lost. He takes her to a park, gives her ice-cream and talks to her about the world. Unfortunately it doesn't take very long for Torneo to locate her due to a tracker in her bracelet. When he shows up Sven tries to take him in making Eve realize that he is the "enemy". Torneo orders Eve to kill Sven and since she knows nothing else but obeying orders the stabs him in the stomach.

But since she is more than just a killing machine and Sven is the first person the actually be nice to her she doesn't really want to kill him and therefore subconsciously avoid hitting anything vital. Because of this and the fact that she was crying as she stabbed him Sven decides to rescue her and let her be free.

personality:

At first glance Eve seems very blank and emotionless. She's used to being treated like a thing and a weapon rather than a human being and acts accordingly. She's very focused on her tasks and is used to obeying orders without hesitating or thinking on her own.

While she has killed a great number of people under Torneo's orders she doesn't actually enjoy it and only does it because she has never heard or understood the concept of free will. When actually realizing this she endeavors to never kill a living thing again and instead turns her focus on helping others. She feels great guilt for all the people she's killed which adds a need to make up for her wrongdoings and making her fight to protect others even more.

She doesn't yet know much about the world or of the people in it and this has, in spite of her murderous games of tag, left her very innocent and naive. She's also very blunt in her manner, having never been taught to lie or even how to properly develop a brain-to-mouth filter. The same goes for lessons in manners or etiquette but since she knows how to obey orders she still fares better in those aspects.

She loves to read and wants to learn more about the world. After being rescued from Torneo's grasp she spends most of her pocket money on books. There's not much of a pattern to what she reads. She has a very open and inquisitive mind and after having been left ignorant of so many things for such a long time she now have the chance to catch up and satisfy her thirst for knowledge. However, she does endeavor to find at least one subject suitable for whatever situation she happens to be in. She also enjoys observing people in order to find out more about the word and she finds them very fascinating, especially the people who are closest to her.

She's not very good at handling her emotions. After having been told all of her life that she's not even supposed to have any she doesn't know what to do with them when they appear.

Even after learning more about the world she tends to take things very literally. As an example, when trying to make nice with Train after he's saved her life she gives him fish to eat. She's certain that he'll love it since he's called "black cat" and cats loves fish. She later takes this even further when making him a cake and putting fish on that as well. Sven, however, gets a perfectly normal cake.

Her meeting with Sven gave her, her first taste of both freedom and happiness, two concepts she didn't even know existed. It also sparked a small awareness of the world outside of Torneo's mansions. The need to know was already inside of her and he didn't need to tell her much in order to awaken it, to make her begin to actually think about what else might be out there.

She is so thirsting for affection that the little bit of kindness he shows her is enough for her to form a small, tentative bond with him. It's enough for her to care for him enough that later being forced to harm him is so emotionally painful to her that she's crying even as she pierces him with her blade.

Having finally realized what freedom actually is and that it's something that even she can obtain it doesn't take her more than a second to decide that she wants it. Because if she's free then she won't have to kill anyone anymore and can make the choice to help people instead.

She adores Sven - the man who made her realize all of this and who saved her from Torneo - more than anything else in the whole world and would gladly give up her life for his. She wants nothing more than to stay with him forever and hunt down people who are like she used to be, people who hurt others. Her goal is to become his partner a position that is taken by Train. This sparks an intense, one-sided, rivalry between them leading to a number of clashes between them. Even so she cares for him as well and they still consider each other great friends. In fact, Train is the person starting the trend of referring to Eve as "princess", a nickname she finds interesting rather than annoying.

She really dislikes being treated like a child. She wants the responsibilities of an adult and to be trusted to be able to preform her duties as a sweeper and hates it when others try to shelter her. It's very difficult for her to be the weakest in her group and that the other two "have" to keep protecting her and therefor trains very hard on mastering her own strengths in order to be able to save them instead.

why do you feel this character would be appropriate to the setting?

While technically a child she has never been treated as such and would therefore not expect anyone to take care of her. She's very intelligent and it wouldn't take her long to figure out how to manage on her own. In her canon she quickly adapts to the dangerous life of a bounty hunter and while she won't have the same guidance in Anatole she would still be able to manage. Also her entire body can be made into a weapon so she would be able to defend herself from both people as well as... other things and would, at this particular point in canon, have no problem with doing so.

Writing Samples

Network Post Sample:

[It has taken her a while to fully understand the machine but it's not all too different from devices she has seen before and she's always been good with technology. As far as she can tell she is far away from her home and from what she can see on the device this might be even more true than she thought. The existence of other worlds confuse her but the fact that someone might be collecting people and just dropping them here is more easy to expect. She's grown up around scientists who would do just that if they had the chance after all.

She's been sitting on her (?) bed for hours now, watching and listening to snippets of all these peoples lives, endlessly facsinated. There are so many of them, and they are all so... different. Her finger hovers hesitantly over the device, she wants to say something to be apart of all that life but she doesn't know anything about it and it scares her as well. <i>"You should go sometime... but watch out for flying spuds."</i> The memory hurts but it helps her to make up her mind and her hands are steady as she begins the video feed.
]

Hello. My name is Eve and I [am a demon] am very new here. This place... it's very different from my- from the place I come from and I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to do. I've been watching the others for a while but it all so confusing, I can't quite understand it.

[Her face is expressionless and her voice almost disconcertingly even. If there are any feelings lurking behind the words they are well hidden.]

There are so many people here. [It's said with a quiet sort of awe, the first emotion she's shown.] More people than I think I have ever seen in my entire life. I would like to know more, if there are anyone who would... who might consider helping me. [Her voice is a mix of hopefulness and the certainty that there won't be anyone who will have the time to waste on her. She's meant to be useful, nothing else and the only other person who has ever thought otherwise... well, he's not here.]

Third Person Sample:

She lays in the bed, staring at the ceiling for quite some time after she has woken up. It doesn't look like her usual room at all but it doesn't look like a laboratory either. She turns her head to the side and takes in the rest of the room before slowly getting up off the bed.

She picks up the forge and examines it before putting it in her pocket. If Torneo wants something she's sure he's going to contact her and he doesn't like being interrupted. The ivory catches her attention a bit longer, it looks like nothing she has ever seen before. With a look of pure concentration on he face she puts one of the pieces in her mouth and sucks on it before quickly spitting it out again. If it is supposed to be eaten, and she's not sure it is, it doesn't taste anything like the ice cream the sweeper had given her. But they must have been left there for a reason and she pockets them as well before heading to the door.

It opens easily, not that she had expected otherwise, showing nothing but an empty corridor. There are no guards and that is very strange, Torneo never went anywhere without them. It makes that small, fragile feeling in her chest, the one that had started to grow listening to the sweeper talk about the world, swell just a little bit but she has no idea what that means.

The outside is as foreign and unexpected as the room she woke up in was. Where she had expected there would be a yard and a wall shielding them from the rest of the world there is just... the outside. She's beginning to feel confused. It's a feeling she's not really used to and she doesn't like it much. There's a soft, strange sound as the cells in her right arm change and transform into the large blade which is the only transformation she knows how to make. No matter how confused she is she has to follow orders, and there is really only one order she truly knows. This is a game of tag. And she is the demon.

Anything else? How would her nanotechnology work with the technology in Anatole? In the manga she is shown to be able to "fuse" herself, though her hair, with an x-box and playing a game that way instead of using the controls. Will she be able to do similar things with the forge, for example?
